Code of Ethics

Welcome to the NASGA site.  NASGA is a non-profit organization positively supporting sea glass collectors and the sea glass community with festivals, information, educational opportunities, commercial membership and more.  NASGA does not police sea glass commerce or litigate sea glass design issues.

  1. Members act fairly, honestly, respectfully, and with integrity.

  2. Members respect the intellectual property of fellow artisans and honor copyrights and trademarks.

  3. Members who sell sea glass, sea glass jewelry, and crafts made from sea glass must provide a thirty (30) day 100% satisfaction or your money back guarantee.  Members may never tumble, add artificial colorants, treat their sea glass chemically with etching compounds, or use artificially created sea glass, without fully disclosing these alterations to every client.

  4. Members agree to abide by all Federal, State, and Local laws governing business practices and sales.

  5. Members conduct themselves professionally while on association business.

  6. Members who have the NASGA's permission to access email databases, vendor lists etc., agree not to use these assets for their own personal or financial gain and may never access or utilize these assets without full board approval.

  7. Complaints will be investigated thoroughly, confidentially, and open-mindedly.  Members are expected to cooperate fully with the committee.  Members who fail to cooperate with the investigation by refusing to submit samples of sea glass for review will be considered in violation of our code of ethics and, as such, automatically removed from membership in the NASGA.

  8. Should it be found that sufficient evidence demonstrates that a member sold sea glass they knew to be altered or otherwise enhanced to improve its quality, and either intentionally concealed from, or knowingly misrepresented that information to the customer, that member will automatically lose all membership privileges and benefits.  Dues will not be refunded and they will be required to remove all references of affiliation with the North American Sea Glass Association from their marketing materials, correspondence, publications, advertising, and any other medium where they may have affiliated themselves with the NASGA.

  9. Members found in violation will have ten days from the date of the decision to appeal to the full board, comply, or refuse to comply and face legal action.  If a member does not agree with the decision, they may appeal.  The full board will carefully review the matter and may either uphold or reverse the decision.  If the board upholds the decision, the member in question will have no further recourse with the NASGA.

  10. Should any member leave the association for any reason, they shall surrender any materials deemed as assets by the association, such as email lists, data files, etc.
